God led me to Carver. Of that I am fully convinced. I have a strong desire to teach, and a desire to share God's word with others--especially young people. At Carver, I am able to do both.
"For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
-Romans 8:38-39
I have gone through some difficult times in my life. They have been rough and, at times, very dark moments where I felt cut off from everyone. Yet, in the toughest moments, these verses reminded me that no matter how I may feel, NOTHING can separate me from God! That is a powerful message of comfort and a source of great strength for me.

One rewarding aspect of working in a faith-based educational environment is being able to openly and joyfully point to our Creator and Heavenly Father as the ultimate aim. As a teacher of the performing arts, I believe God created us as expressive, creative individuals, and it is through this expression of thought and emotion that we come to learn more about ourselves, and the One who created us.
Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
-James 1:2-4
This verse encourages me to press on despite hardship, and to do so joyfully.
Ms. ChanMath, Science
I love teaching at Carver because we have the freedom to pray for each other daily. We can talk about God as we study Math and Science, and learn about how He has created beauty and order in His creation. My Spanish students learn a new language and culture, but they also prepare to serve others on an outreach trip to Costa Rica.
"He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God."
-Micah 6:8

I love working in a Christian school because I can combine my love for teaching and my love for the Lord. I pray that God will let his love and wisdom shine through me and have the hand of Jesus touch the lives of every student. I am blessed to teach with Christians who live and walk their faith, to encourage each other to teach Christianly, and also with our walk with the Lord.
"I can do everything through Him who gives me strength."
-Philippians 4:13
"But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."

I work in a Christian school because I want to work daily in the lives of teenagers and try to show them what it looks like to live out one's faith.
"Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy!"
-Psalm 33:3
We can't do things skillfully if we don't put in the effort to prepare or practise. I feel that God wants us to be at our best and this verse convicts me to try and give Him this.

I enjoy teaching at Carver because it is community of believers coming together to educate and share Jesus Christ with students. We are a community of joys and sorrows who are able to walk alongside one another. As a teacher, I am able to use my gifts and talents to bless others. I enjoy having the opportunity to share Jesus Christ on a daily basis with my students. My hope is that each will have a solid foundation of their faith as they grow and serve in an ever changing world.
My favourite verse is Hebrews 13:8 "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever."
We can take great joy knowing that Jesus never changes. He is there for us with open arms desiring us to be in relationship with him. We need to thank God on a daily basis for our lives and that He is working in us and through us!

I have felt called to teaching for a long time. I feel privileged to work at a Christian school where I can be a part of a Christian community, and I can teach about the world as God created it.

I teach in a Christian school because I feel that I can use my gifts, experience, and knowledge to serve at Carver. I have a passion for education and learning, and it is incredibly exciting to see how God is continually moving and growing our Carver community!
"My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness."
-2 Corinthians 12:9a
This particular verse is meaningful to me because it reminds me of God's inconceivable grace, love, and faithfulness to us. It is encouraging to know that it is only by God's power that my weaknesses may be transformed into his glory.

As a lover of colour, texture and beauty in all God’s creations, I find it immensely satisfying helping
students discover the artist in themselves and the connection they can make with God through
creativity.
The following verse assures me of God’s Love; when I put my trust in Him He will equip me, He will guide
me and it will be pleasing to Him and His purpose.
"God arms me with strength, He makes my way perfect"

I love being a part of Carver community. I enjoy ministering to students by sharing my faith with
them and encouraging them to walk with God.
“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge.”
-Proverbs 1:7
“I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.”
-3 John 4
These are the Bible verses that inspire me to be a Christian teacher. Since we are living in this
challenging and evil era, it is increasingly important to educate our youth with God’s truth so that
they will be able to face the world by using the Sword of the Holy Spirit.
Mr. Liu
Mrs. LoconteI have known that I wanted to be a teacher since I was in English Literature 12 and have done everything academically motivated to get me right at the spot I am today. I do not take my position lightly but instead feel totally privileged to teach students prose, poetry, and all things Language Arts related . I have taught and tutored ESL 4 years and been a TOC in both the public and private sectors for a few years prior to coming to Carver. I know that God has placed me exactly where He wants me and I feel incredibly blessed that I get to share my passion for English and love of the Lord for a living.
I won’t end this by saying my favorite Bible verse (how can I pick?!) but will end by including my favorite educational quote: One should guard against preaching to young people success in the customary form as the main aim in life. The most important motive for work in school and in life is pleasure in work, pleasure in its result, and the knowledge of the value of the result to the community. ~Albert Einstein,

I definitely feel like it was part of God's plan for me to come teach at Carver and I feel very blessed to be part of such an inspiring staff of great role-models. I love being able to teach Science in a place that glorifies God as the Creator of everything.

I want to enthuse young people to see what opportunities exist to know and serve God, so they live lives that are fruitful and not wasted.
"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders us and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him, endured the cross, despising its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart."

I have always loved sharing God's truths with students. Teaching them the redemptive story and showing them that they are part of that story is so exciting. The story of scripture tells us of a God who loves the world He made and we must share that story with our students.
"We will not hide these truths from our children; we will tell the next generation about the glorious deeds of the LORD, about his power and his mighty wonders."
-Psalm 78:4

I have always known that I wanted to be a music teacher. Music has been my passion since I was a small child, and I believe that music is a natural outlet for worship. I have no doubt that the Lord has called me to Carver, and I feel blessed to be able to serve the Lord while making music with my students.
There are many passages in the Bible that speak to my heart, but one of my favourites that directly pertains to music is Psalm 33: 1-3. "Sing joyfully to the Lord, you righteous; it is fitting for the upright to praise Him. Praise the Lord with the harp; make music to Him on the ten-stringed lyre. Sing to Him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy."
Miss YeungMath
My Christian highschool teachers had a great impact on me. I wouldn't be where I am today without them. I want to influence my students the same way as my teachers influenced me.
