I began teaching High School Religious Studies at Surrey Christian School many years ago, then served as Campus Pastor at The King’s University. I have participated in the ministry of the First Christian Reformed Church in Vancouver for nearly a decade. I received a B.A. in Environmental Studies at The King’s, and a Master of Divinity from Regent College and Calvin Theological Seminary. I am ordained in the Christian Reformed Church.
For a long time, I’ve been intrigued by the expressions of Christian faith all over the globe, as I have worshiped with believing communities in Europe, Africa, Asia, Central America and in the Middle East. I am delighted to be at a school that gathers together such a variety of backgrounds. It is a privilege to be at Carver part-time, where I feel called to help students listen to God’s voice, arrange times for us to gather in worship together, and contribute to a community of like-minded, Kingdom-seeking, Christ-following people.
I am married to Trevor Vanderveen, with whom I have the joy of nurturing three beautiful boys! When I have time, I like to linger over the poetry of Gerard Manley Hopkins.
