Students are integrated into regular Canadian classes and may take the classes for audit or credit. The number of international students per class will be limited to ensure that the students have maximum opportunity to develop English language skills and to integrate with Canadian students.
The student’s language skills will be assessed to individualize the program to suit his or her learning needs. English Language Learning (ELL) classes will be provided for students who need it, as well as peer-learning, in which the students benefit from studying together with Canadian students.
Outdoor education is another important component of the program. Students will have the opportunity to participate in various outings and activities which will enhance their experience of studying at Carver. It’s a great way to learn more about Vancouver, to benefit from out-of-the-classroom language learning, and to make friends.
The homestay program is for students who will not be accompanied by a parent when they come to Carver to study. They will be provided a home with a Canadian host family. The homestay program is an excellent way for students to feel supported as they learn to integrate into life in Canada.
Further support to students and their families as they adjust to life in Canada will be given by the International Student Coordinator. Translators will also be provided as needed.
The Academic Counselor will help students to select their courses and to plan for university and career.
